What is Turkey-Feta Meatball and Sweet Potato Sheet Pan?
This dish is exactly as it reads–a sheet pan meal. The meatballs and the sweet potatoes bake all together on one sheet pan, minimizing dishes and time and maximizing quantity. The dish consists of turkey meatballs with feta cheese and herbs baked alongside chopped sweet potatoes tossed in some simple complementary spices. This is the type of meal that can be eaten as is, prepped ahead for the week, or used for salads or bowls. I love dipping the meatballs in some tzatziki or hummus!
How to make Turkey-Feta Meatball and Sweet Potato Sheet Pan?
It’s a very easy recipe and requires only 15 minutes of hands-on time. You can prep it and relax while it cooks, making it perfect for a busy weeknight. We simply mix together the meatball ingredients and form them into meatballs, then season up the sweet potatoes and place everything on one sheet pan to bake! Also, you can easily prep the meatball mixture until you are ready to cook. Just be sure to cover it and refrigerate it if you do.
What you’ll need:
- Sweet potatoes – a tasty and easy starch that cooks relatively quickly when cut into small pieces.
- Ground turkey – I recommend using 93/7 lean turkey here to get the best texture.
- Egg – one egg to help bind everything together.
- Feta cheese – crumbled feta adds such a tasty flavor and elevates the turkey.
- White mushrooms – when finely chopped, these add the greatest texture and even more moisture to the meatballs, a great nutritious alternative to bread crumb.
- Yellow onion – again, we finely chop for texture, but if you prefer softer onions feel free to sauté them first.
- Dried oregano, dried dill, paprika, garlic powder, cumin – for flavor!
- Fresh parsley – adds a nice fresh green component.
- Olive oil – coats the sweet potatoes and adds a dash of moisture to the meatballs.
What to serve with Turkey-Feta Meatball and Sweet Potato Sheet Pan
I love serving these meatballs and sweet potatoes with a cucumber salad or some greens and hummus to dip. They also are great on top of bowls and salads. They are tasty warm or cold and are great for meal prep batch cooking. The whole dish stores and freezes well, and can be prepped with salads for the week in meal prep containers. Sometimes I even use the sweet potatoes separately for other dishes. If you want to switch it up, serve the meatballs over some rice and veggies for a loaded bowl. For a low carb meal, serve it over some cauliflower rice.
Tips:
- To store this dish in the refrigerator, I recommend storing the meatballs and sweets in a Pyrex or glass container to enjoy cold or reheating later.
- If you choose to freeze leftovers, be sure to separate the sweet potatoes and the meatballs before freezing.
- To reheat, simply add a splash of broth of water to a sauté pan, then cover and steam for a few minutes over medium-high. The sweet potatoes can go onto a sheet pan and heated at 350 for tend minutes to reheat.
- Cut the sweet potatoes into very small chunks to make sure they cook as fast as the meatballs. If the sweet potatoes are not fork tender, simply remove the meatballs from the sheet pan and place the sweets back in the oven until done.

- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried dill

- 2 1/2 tbsp olive oil, divided
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425.
- Prep the sweet potatoes. Chop the sweet potatoes into small, bite-sized chunks. Set aside.
- Prep the meatballs. To a large bowl, add the turkey, egg, feta, mushrooms, onion, 1/2 tsp salt, oregano, dill, parsley and 1/2 tbsp olive oil. Use a fork to mix everything together until well combined. Set aside.
- Add the sweet potatoes to the sheet pan, then drizzle with the remaining olive oil, remaining salt, paprika, garlic powder, and cumin. Toss to coat.

Notes
*to reheat, I recommend adding the meatballs to a pan on the stove, adding a splash of water and covering over medium heat for 5-7 minutes while adding the sweet potatoes to a sheet pan and placing in the oven on 350 for 5-7 minutes
*be sure to cut the sweet potaotes into small chunks so that they bake in the same amount of time as the meatballs, but if the sweet potatoes are not fully tender you can remove the meatballs and bake the sweet potatoes longer
*to freeze, you can freeze the meatballs and the sweet potatoes separately in airtight containers
