For the past couple months I’ve been using the paleo granola from Kitchfix, a company out of Chicago. I was fortunate the “real food” lovin’ team working with Chef Josh, Founder and CEO of Kitchfix, at the Natural Food Expo in Baltimore back in September. I immediately fell in love with the product. The granola comes in five flavors: Original Mix, Vanilla Berry, Cocoa Sea Salt, Honey Pecan and Lemon Berry Chia. The only one I have yet to try it the Original Mix, but if it is anything like the rest then I can guarantee it is amazing!

I am a granola fiend, and I tend to go for the grain-less varieties. I always look for a few things when I buy granola:

  • Ingredients (I look for whole foods)
  • The added sugar amounts (preferably unrefined sources)
  • Texture (I like it crunchy!)
  • The size of the granola clusters (bigger the better)

With the Kitchfix varieties, I was more than pleased! One problem I run into with grain-less granolas is that sometimes they fall apart, lack the “chunk factor” as I’d like to call it. You know, when all of the ingredients hold together into a cluster almost creating a trail mix cookie? Not only is Kitchfix granola made up of real whole food ingredients, but the flavor combinations are amazing with very little added sugar (the added sugars comes only from small amounts of maple syrup and honey), it is super crunchy AND there’s so many delicious cluster chunks of goodness!

Like I mentioned before, I’ve been using this granola for a couple months now. I’ve experimented with it in baking, on top of smoothies, waffles, pancakes, yogurt and it has been a delicious addition to all of the above. The best part is that it maintains its consistency just kept in the bag in my cabinet. Here are just a few ways that I have used it.The Vanilla Berry was so delicious on these pancakes that had fresh berries too!

The Cocoa Sea Salt has bits of coconut too as you can see on this berry smoothie.

These peanut butter fudge squares were topped with two of the flavors including Lemon Berry Chia!

And one more delicious smoothie topped with Vanilla Berry.

The variety of flavors is wonderful, since they are all so different and delicious in their own way. They all are full of nutritious nuts and seeds. If I had to choose a favorite I would probably say the Honey-Pecan, but that’s just because I’m a Pecan fanatic! With fall here, it reminds me of pecan-flavored pie and cookies I would typically eat around the holidays. The other flavors, however, are just as wonderful. What I love about the Cocoa Sea Salt and Vanilla Berry is the freeze dried berries…especially delicious when I want to accentuate recipes with fresh berries, because it compliments the flavor with a crisp bite. And the Lemon Berry Chia…this is for anyone who loves that sweet lemon citrus zest! The addition of cranberry in this mix makes this the perfect lemony treat.

All in all, I would 10/10 reccommend this product to anyone looking for a delicious granola to their diet. It is filled with real wholesome ingredients, certified gluten free, paleo friendly, low in sugar and free of refined sugars, and it has an amazing flavor and texture! Now I just wish I lived closer to Chicago, because Kitchfix also does local delivery of prepared snacks and meals! If you’re interested in ordering some granola of your own check out their web site:

Recipe for Raspberry Chia pudding for the Chia Parfait featured:

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1/4 Salba Chia chia seeds
  • 1 cup raspberries (I used fresh but could use frozen)
  • Optional: 1 tsp honey

Mix together ingredients in a bowl, mashing the raspberries to mix in well. Store in refrigerator overnight. Mix in the morning and serve!
